Typically, Carbon Steel EN-9 Bars contain about 0.50–0.60% carbon and 0.50–0.80% manganese, along with controlled amounts of phosphorus and sulfur. This specific composition allows for a favorable response to heat treatment, enhancing strength and hardness compared to low-carbon steels. In its normalized state, EN-9 boasts a tensile strength of around 600–750 MPa and good impact resistance. After undergoing quenching and tempering, it can achieve even higher levels of strength and hardness while still maintaining adequate toughness.
