700 Brinell Hardness Number (BHN) plates and sheets consist of a special alloy steel composition having carbon, manganese, chromium, molybdenum, and boron in them to provide enhanced strength and wear resistance. These super-hard steel plates have a hardness of 680-720 BHN, with very high tensile strength in excess of 2000 MPa and very good yield strength in excess of 1800 MPa. Even though they are extremely hard, they have good toughness and resistance to impact, and therefore they find application in the heavy-duty industries of mining, construction, and in machinery industries.
